Emergency first aid for knife, gun & acid attacks workshops. 1st March 2020.
The Leicester Gun Crime Awareness Project in partnership with Second Genesis and X-ellent are to offer Leicester’s very first workshops for young people in emergency first aid for knife, gun & acid attacks.
Mr. Aadam Muhammad of The Leicester Gun Crime Awareness Project said, “training young people in essential first aid for knife and gun shot wounds, as well as acid throwing attacks, is increasingly required - especially as these crimes are on the rise locally, regionally and nationally. It is at those critical few moments after the attack where the actions of a trained first aider can prove to make all the difference between life and death. Young people who are at the scene are the main ones who will be able to provide this vital life support before the emergency services arrive. We must not underestimate their input.”
The Leicester Gun Crime Awareness project aims to work in partnership with local youth clubs, community groups, statutory agencies etc. who actively engage young people. “The situation regarding gun and knife crimes in Leicester should not be misjudged. Having a combined approach to address these types of crime is one of the most effective ways of being successful” Mr. Muhammad said. “We believe our emergency first aid for knife, gun & acid attacks workshops can add a valuable and unique element to what is already currently available” He added.
The emergency first aid for knife, gun & acid attack workshops are available to be booked from the beginning of March 2020. “The workshops are very practical and will help young people to understand the causes of knife, gun and acid attacks; managing their own personal safety; effectively tending to casualties and how to use other valuable first aid methods to preserve life. We believe that sincerely reaching out to young people will be the key to overcoming the causes of gun, knife and acid attack crimes – and help to reduce their tragic effects” Mr. Muhammad concluded.

Education - Not Radicalisation. Community awareness conference on radicalisation and extremism. 4th May 2017.
P.E.a.C.E will be hosting Leicester’s first community awareness conference on radicalisation and extremism on 4th May 2017, 10.00 am - 4.00 pm at TREC, 2nd Floor, Phoenix Yard, 5-9 Upper Brown St, Leicester, LE1 5TE. The conference, ‘Education – Not Radicalisation’, is an inter-agency event co-hosted by London based The Salam Project and has been organised in response to growing national concerns linked to the rise of radicalisation, extremism and terrorism in the UK.
Mr. Aadam Muhammad founder of P.E.a.C.E said, ‘the distressing events on the 22nd March 2017 in Westminster, London has once again brought the issue of radicalisation and terrorism to the public’s attention. In answer to this, we’ve formed a partnership with The Salam Project to organise this unique conference and help get the crucial answers to the public” he stated. ‘It’s the first event of its kind in Leicester and we want to make sure it helps everybody here to continue living in a peaceful and harmonious City” he expressed.
The Education – Not Radicalisation conference aims to involve key note speakers from local groups; mini workshops; information stalls; community question time and live entertainment. Mr Ismael Lea South, Director of the Salam Project said, “We want to invite other community based projects to join us and contribute to make the day a huge success. Both of our organisations are firmly committed to educating parents, families and communities about how to successfully address radicalisation. We’ve all got to pull together to find the solutions so that we can then move forward together as one” he added.
The conference organisers hope that key local agencies will also participate and help to bring this special event to the citizens of Leicester. “We aim to invite representatives from the Local Authorities and statutory agencies in order to formerly address any community concerns” Mr Muhammad commented. “Protecting vulnerable people from radicalisation is the collective responsibility of everyone in Leicester and Leicestershire. If we can teach the public how to do this - then we’re half way there already” Mr. Lea South concluded.
