The P.E.a.C.E. Project:
The Promoting Empowerment and Community Education project (P.E.a.C.E.) is Leicester’s first community scheme developed to prevent radicalisation, terrorism and violent extremism. Beating stress at work:
Employees across the UK are being increasingly affected by the persistent challenges of working in fast paced, modern organisations and businesses. The long term effects of managing this, has resulted in a huge increase in health disorders that have often proven to be caused by work related stress. Stress has largely been identified as a major cause of poor health within companies and, as a result, general and specific stress related illnesses continue to affect many employees disproportionately.
Beating stress at work is a new workshop created to help employees develop the critical skills needed to avoid becoming victims of stress and remain balanced in their collective and individual lifestyles and choices. It aims to reduce the potential for stress related illnesses and help to create greater wellbeing, health awareness and an opportunity to share common experiences. This workshop will be especially useful for social and healthcare workers; public administration and defence staff; teaching, business, media and public service professionals; third sector employees and youth & community workers etc.
The Beating stress at work workshop will help you to:
- Identify exactly what stress is; why it happens and the facts behind its effects on employees.
- Examine its major causes and symptoms in relation to work.
- Explore practical solutions to preventing the increase of stress and illnesses in your job.
- Create a unique personal work stress prevention plan that will change your life.
- Network; share tips, hints and good practice with other ‘stress busters’!
A dynamic presentation, unique narratives and active learning exercises will be used throughout to make it a truly valuable learning experience. The workshop is entirely 'on site friendly', meaning the workshop can be brought to your community group at your request.

Anti-racism / racism recognition training & coaching:
The Anti-Racism Training Service (ARTS) is a brand-new service that provides professional training to public/private/voluntary sector staff within their institution (ultimately leading to a higher quality service to all communities) whilst showing a genuine dedication to establishing an anti-racist work culture.
The Anti-Racism Counselling & Coaching Support service (ARCCS) is a brand-new service that will provide one to one professional coaching, counselling and training to African, Asian and Mixed (AAM) staff within the public/private/voluntary sectors which will ultimately lead to a higher quality service to all communities. It will further be made available to all White anti-racist allies who are dedicated to establishing a genuine anti-racist work culture but who may be experiencing hostility, ostracism and intimidation as they strive towards this objective
Where are the services available:
Both services are Leicestershire based which can also be delivered face to face at a coaching venue; through telephone or video conferencing technology (Zoom, Teams, Skype etc.).
When is ARTS available:
The service is typically available Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm. Other availability options can be arranged upon request.
Why were these services developed:
The well-being of AAM employees within many organisations / institutions has regularly been subject to discussion and concern. There have been consistent reports of AAM personnel being subjected to intense institutional racism that grievously affects them both personally and professionally. This can result in significant revels of reduced self-confidence, esteem, standards of professional competence and resilience on their behalf.
Needless to say, this reduction in professional capacity is not what is desired by themselves; service users and also the institution as a whole. Yet, it is only reasonable to deduce, that this attrition will continue until something is done to assist them with overcoming the debilitating effects of the racism, they experience on a daily basis such as slights, snubs or insults that can make AAM staff feel unwelcome and undervalued. It is further found in everyday racist comments often dismissed as ‘banter’ or humour – yet is markedly different from the treatment most white staff experience.

Work coaching & mentoring:
Coaching and mentoring your staff helps to give them greater confidence in their roles and allows them to have clearer work related goals and objectives by developing and enhancing their skills, both professionally and personally.
Coaching an employee is a shorter, more specific affair where, for example, you might be coaching a group of trainees on how to practice diversity and inclusion skills. This requires the passing on of particular knowledge—so who better than a confident employee who has a good expertise of that skill?
Mentoring is generally a longer process than coaching. An experienced employee will be attached to junior employees and have one-to-one or group sessions to establish valuable objectives and monitor their progress over an agreed period of time. They'll concentrate on a specific range of both soft and hard skills - eventually helping them to successfully reach these new professional and personal goals.
So, having trained coaches and mentors in your business helps to:
Employees who are committed to learning new skills, recognise that they can increase their value to their employer - and also to themselves.
